HomeCare Compass is an independent UK guide to home care. We pull together every public signal we can — CQC ratings, inspection findings, ownership, registered managers — and pair it with real editorial and a real concierge, so families don’t have to do dozens of phone calls in the dark.
Why we built it
Home-care agencies don’t advertise their CQC scores. They rarely publish prices. Most websites read the same. So families do dozens of phone calls and hope for the best — usually at a stressful moment in their lives, and usually fast.
That’s a market failure with a clear fix: pull together everything that’s public — ratings, inspection findings, who actually owns the agency — and add the bits that aren’t: live availability, comparable quotes, and a real person on the other end of the email. We started with England because the CQC publishes the best regulator dataset in the UK; we expect to add Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland once we’ve made the England product genuinely useful.

We’re not owned by an agency, a care group, or a private-equity portfolio. The CQC data we surface is public; the editorial we publish is our own work, with named reviewers.
- Free for families
Always. We never charge families a fee for searching, comparing, or requesting quotes. Our future revenue comes from agencies who choose to claim and enrich their listing.
- Plain English
Care language is full of acronyms and policy jargon. We don’t use any in our guides without explaining it the first time. If you’ve got 15 minutes, you can read enough to ask the right questions.
- Real people
Quote requests go to a real human at the agency, then back to a real human at HomeCare Compass who reads every reply. No chatbot, no auto-routing, no “sponsored placement.”
